Likes and Dislikes

I'm sooo happy its Friday!!! Change of plans for the weekend means i'm staying local, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I feel old saying this, but I really need to do dumb things like clean and grocery shop...haha. The bars should be a good time tonight, and busy days ahead for Saturday and Sunday. Aside from happy hour and some dinner wine, I went easy last night, so I'm really to dance/do the late night thing because its finally the WEEKEND!!!

I detest Jessica Simpson. I hate her style. If she has a stylist, they should be dragged into the street and shot. She claims to hate the paparazzi, yet is a total camera whore who spills her guts to any magazine who will listen. No wonder no one wants to date her other than Tony Homo. Not to mention that. awful awful music. There are plenty of people famous for nothing, but she is #1 on my list of no-talent-ass-clowns. Those roots! The wanna-be Dolly Parton boobs and hair and "new" country sound are equal parts nauseating. She should never make her way into a fashion magazine (or blog!) in a positive light.

Red wine/italian food are sooo good, but especially in the winter......

If I were still in college, I would dress like this everyday to class. I love the gossip girls' looks. Diane Krueger is so hot right now. Just when you think leggings are a fading trend, she puts them on and wow. This is "recessionista" right here. She doesn't appear to be wearing anything new or showy, just recycling what she already has to look totally amazing!

Fun side note: my artsy-fartsy friend had to do a photography project for class and used me as the model! Should have some uber-fun pics soon!!!!

Sorry for the delay.....

Another busy week! Ugh where have the days gone! Good news is my life is falling into place rather nicely. I've finished up my law school applications, been on some wonderful dates with a new mancandy, and got a job interview with an awesome firm! Sigh, I wish I was working in the world of fashion, however a new company and paycheck upgrade never hurt regardless.

Alot of people think Lauren Conrad has really boring style. While I can definately see where they are coming from, I love her classic simple style. I would never call her a fashion icon per-se, but she does nail the effortlessly chic, never scruffy style.

Oh Kate. When will you wow me again? Kate in her glory days making menswear look hot.

Kate Beckinsdale is always hot or miss. The jeans are miserable, but I really really really love that top. Her hair is always amazing as well.

My take on menswear/laundry day. Had to sport leggings because my jeans were all in the laundry....not a fashionista yet....

Again, could be construed as boring but this is totally something I would wear grocery shopping. I mean, are we really expecting her to wow us at Whole Foods? Thumbs up, homegirl.

TGIF

Debating on whether I'm going out tonight. Its been a terribly long week and my body is screaming "sleep!!!" But, my mind is saying "let's party". Knowing me, I'll likely do this bullsh*t debate in my head for about 15 minutes before deciding that I can sleep enough when I'm dead. Long live the weekend warrior!

Normally, I am very unimpressed with both High School Musical stars. Vanessa usually jumps on the bandwagon for every trend, but never looks as good as the originators. Tisdale is the worst though. Her casual style is reminiscent of what I wore to class in college; i.e. Victoria's Secret pink lounge wear, uggs, a designer handbag, and messy hair. Ashley, you make millions of dollars a year, stop dressing like a goddam sorority girl. To add insult to injury, she usually plasters the designer logos all over. We get it, you like Louis Vuitton purses...do you own any others? This being said, I really like both of their outfits here. Vanessa's is the perfect low-key bar night; not too dressy or overstated, but cute enough to attract some attention.

Yay! No Louis here! I love the dress and the gladiators. Her hair is still a little bubble gum-y (see Hilary Duff years 2000-2008) but this outfit is very cute. Perfect for chill Friday night or busy Saturday when you want to see and be seen.

Ok, so this outfit is very cute, but there a few things that need to be noted: 1) Necklace=barf. Sorry, I'm too much of a matchy-matchy girl and that thing is straight woof. 2) Kristen Bell is such an attractive girl, but bangs are not for her. I have a big problem with bangs. Most people should not have them and they really aren't all that "trendy". Some "wisps" or a nice side swept fringe is great for most; the blunt cut/edge-y/bangs with curly hair drive me crazy. The only person that 'needs' bangs however is Christina Ricci. Why? Have you seen her forehead? People like Kristen Bell with adorable, petite features should not have bangs. Ok, all that aside, I love this skirt! I have a similar one from Forever21 in gold, but I love this pink/nude combo. It would be really cute for Valentine's Day.

Ashlee's faux tan detracts from the outfit a bit, but otherwise I really like this too. The shoes just pop! I think she wore this when she was trying to dispel pregnancy rumors, but damn does she look good. I still love that hair color and the emphasis on accessories. Fun shoes + designer cuff = perfect combo. This is the kind of outfit I would wear for a friend's birthday dinner/celebration. My bff has one coming up and my besties and I plan on visiting her in the city. As long as there isn't snow on the ground, I'm rockin shoes like that.
Normally I don't really like this look. If its dressy I think it should be form fitting. I wasn't a huge fan of the maxi dresses or anything that could have the attachment of the word "kimono". However, this dress showcases Audrina's legs so nicely! The top of the dress is "flow-y" but not overly so, and highlights her bitchin clavicle. I think she looks so hot right now. If only I owned this and it was about 30 degrees warmer..........

Double Lives

In addition to my paralegal/fashionista double life, I also moonlight as a promo girl for a distributor company; i.e. I'm a cheezy bud light girl giving out lime motif mardi gras beads and samples of beer. Woot-woot. Tonight however, I'm keeping it classy doing a Vodka promo at an art museum featuring a burlesque-themed collection. Super fun! AND, I get to choose what I wear!* (black and a dress....preferably a cocktail dress were the guidelines I was given.)

I love dressing up! Blame it on the sorority days, but cute cocktail dresses are always fun. Sometimes you gotta dress up to get down. One ok new year's eve pic below....but you can't really see what I'm wearing anyhow.

I love this vintage add and might channel it tonight. Pearls, pumps, black, and gloves scream class and sex appeal.....

MK is the only person/celeb/whatever to pull off the messy-glam. She is absolutely breath taking here. Not exactly your little black dress.

Does this woman ever age? She is sooooo hot right now!!!!

Zooey Deschanel has impeccable style; bold, a little quirky, a little retro, and always those piercing eyes! I love love love this look! (and the hair alot. Makes me want to go darker)

Who's that hot paralegal?

As promised, I finally got around to uploading some work outfits for your viewing pleasure.

This "jumper" totally takes me back to my mid-nineties elementary school days. I think every girl had a "jumper" or two. Leggings-$2.00 Marshalls, Jumper-$2.50 thrifted Lux, Turtleneck-$11.80 Forever21, Boots-x-mas present in high school....free? Total=$16.30

Didn't want to be at work that day.....Shirt-$2.00 thrifted Jcrew, Pants-$5.00 thrifted Express, shoes (not seen)-$5.00 thrifted Jessica Simpson brown flats. Total=$12.00

Day to Night. My "date outfit" and work outfit from 2 or 3 Wednesdays ago. Shirt and Pants H&M. Purchased full price but several years ago. I don't actually remember what I paid, but I think the pants were under $40.00......

Overslept that morning....nyquil knocks me out! Hence, the headband (dirty hair and no time to shower!) Had to goof-ify the poses, haha. Pants-$9.99 The Limited found at Rugged Warehouse, Sweater-$5.00 thrifted Old Navy, Tank (underneath)-$2.00 goodwill no-name, Flats-$5.00, and I stole the headband from my roommate. Total=$21.99

Please divert eyes from the muffin top. Turtleneck-$9.00 Ann Taylor found at Rugged Warehouse, Pants-$5.00 Express via Goodwill, Shoes (not seen)- $4.00 flats found at Goodwill. Total=$23.00. (librarian sweater on chair...thrifted vintage gap $6.00)

Snow-y Day

The Weather forecasters are predicting a possible snow storm tonight! Its already snowed a few inches over night, but nothing substantial. I wish I still got snow days like I did in school. Unfortunately, since my commute is about 3 blocks, I don't think I could pull of the "treacherous roads" excuse for not coming into work....damn. Anyway, if/when I move to NYC I doubt it will be any different, but I can hope....oh, and isn't this pic gorgeous?

LC and her cute work outfits. Given the snow today, I created my outfit from the bottom-up. What works with boots? I managed to pull together something decent. Thank god for sweater tights! I can't wait until its warm again so I can dress less frumpy. Check out homegirl's shoes!
Obviously, LC is not in the office in the pic below. Just a memory of how much cuter we all dress in the summer/ if you're lucky enough to live in L.A. or somewhere without real seasons. I want a skirt like that soooo bad! Spring shopping maybe.

I'm not sure why, but somehow I missed the detailing in this dress! This photo came out over a month ago. I saw it and thought, "eh, cute...I guess the swirls are nice and Kate Bosworth looks amazing in everything." (I would give my right foot to be as in with Karl as she!) But for whatever reason I finally notice that the "swirls" are zippers! That is so efin cool! Hot damn. That dress is my new obsession. So Hot Right Now!

I have such a love/hate relationship with this girl. Her movies are categorically bad. Her music...not really my style but total ear worms! I cannot get them out of my head once I hear them! Style, hits and misses. I would give her a b- average. Choice in men...eclectic and fairly good! (I'm a sucker for athletes,...cough mike comrie...musicians,...cough Joel madden....and the occasional man baby...cough Aaron carter. Not too shabby Hil.) What I do HATE is her awful choice in earrings (one more door banger hoop and I'll scream). Has she ever tried a nice stud? Or some mesh-y dangles? I loathe hoops. Blame it on public school, but the hoop is sooo unappealing unless you are of Latin descent....then it is allowable/borderline awesome. Anyway, I like her casual style here (aside from the hoops!) and her necklace is soo cool! Kudos.

P.S. I also like her hair better these days as well. She's grown out of the one-tone platinum and lets it go a bit messier. No more jersey pouf or princess ringlets. She actually looks like a (gasp!) normal 21 year old!

Stuff I love

This was the first weekend that I was without a football game to watch. Usually, my Sundays (and many Saturdays in the fall...) revolve around watching my favorite team with my favorite people. However, with the Eagles out and the SuperBowl next Sunday, I had an entire day to devote to doing nothing. I decided my old "Sunday Fundays" would have replace with self-created fun. This is however, not hard, because...well, I rule, and I have no problem making my own fun.

Maxim is a fabulous combination of mediocre journalism and college-y humor, addressing the "real" concerns of regular guys. Its $2.5 Billion annual sales comes from cornering the male market perfectly; guys don't like to read unless absolutely necessary. They want/need to know a little bit about a lot of things; and Maxim delivers this information in a witty and focused style...and with some pics of hot chicks. I love this magazine. When I want to know about fashion I read vogue. When I want to know how to please my man or make a bitchin cocktail, I read cosmo. When I want to learn about beer, or the best town for snowboarding, or the origin of mardi gras, I read maxim. Plus, the "outfits" (if you can call them that) they put the women in give me ideas for my own escapades, but mostly, inspiration for hot hair and make-up. I read every issue cover to cover and feel it gives me a better understanding of the male psyche. Plus, I have a serious one-up when it comes to striking up conversation with the opposite sex. Some people read the sunday paper; this Sunday, I read the February Maxim.

I spent a few hours last night watching one of my favorite shows; Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Its on FX thursday nights at 10, but I tend to like to watch it on Dvd in one sitting. After Flight of the Conchords, I watched a few episodes, including my favorite one involving "Green Man". This show is so goddamn funny. Its very weird, but in a good way. I wonder if people not from around Philly find it as entertaining...

Really, who doesn't love the Dollar Store? Its the only place I can go shopping and feel rich. It has everything! I went on Saturday after I got back from NYC. Toothpaste, soap, candles, qtips, collapse-able hamper, lip gloss, frozen veggies. The list doesn't end! You get to the register with a basket full of goodies and your total is like $17.00. God, I love America.

Best snack food ever? Wasabi peas are so delicious. Spicy, crunchy, and filling! They were my sustinence on the drive up and back from NYC. Did I mention travel friendly?

Black nail polish is so badass. Classy, edgy, and cool all at the same time. Its one thing I can wear to the office that isn't uber-wasp-y. Slight obsession.

I love this outfit. Worn by the one and only Rumi many moons ago. Perfect for winter in the City.
Probbaly going to channel Sienna and do hair and make up like this.....

Happy me in NYC last fall (early fall). I live for NYC brunch...yummmmmmm!

So Hot Right Now
So Hot Right Now - by Legallyb1onde on Polyvore.com

Bad, Bad Girl

So I've been a bad blogger this week! Last weekend really did me in. A trip to Baltimore where my cousins did a great job of showing me a good time, i.e. holy hangover; a lacrosse convention (yours truly is a youth league coach) which meant lots of free schwag; a terrible loss by the Birds (goddammit Eagles!); which meant a very unhappy president's day. Tuesday, I was consumed by Obama's Inauguration/parade/Delaware's finest Joe Biden. Yesterday was just super busy: hot date (again!!!), work, etc. So here we are 6 days later. I will post something worthwhile tomorrow I swear! Today, its cold, but super sunny and I was amazed how badly most of my summer shades looked with sweaters and coats, etc. That is, except for Wayfarers. My favorite pair below.

The Olsens can do not wrong. They tend to set the sunnies trends. I love the blue reflective ones here though......
I can't remember where I found this, but I saved it and thought/still think it is hilarious. It should totally be a bumper sticker on facebook as far as I'm concerned.

I promise the next post will be better!
Just discovered Polyvore.com and have been wasting hours designing outfits. Love love love!

Afternoon Delight

Today is suuuch a nice day. Beginning of February and a balmy 50 degrees. Such a bummer to find out its supposed to get cold again and snow tonight into tomorrow. I know I won't be getting a snow day unless a state of emergency is called, I can only hope the forecasters are wrong. It did get me thinking about day-off style though. I love to bust out of my ugly work clothing rut and look extra fun on the weekends, even if it only involves running errands and meeting up with friends. Since I just did a post on Friday night attire, today I'll dedicate a post to "morning after" attire.

Mk's outfit is uber functional, especially if one takes into account "morning after" hair. I hate waking up on a beautiful Saturday of Sunday morning to your hair reeking of bar. It never looks quite good no matter how much you fool with it, but usually a shower seems like too much work. Thus, cute hats are sooo clutch. Dark circles from a late night? Stunna shades are the answer! Hot shoes and skinny jeans keep this cozy look from being slummy.

I probably end up looking like this on Saturdays and Sundays more times than not. I love the wide cotton headband. Covers up roots of greasy hair and doesn't hurt your head after too long like some headbands do. Shades, bright scarf, and a large coffee are morning after lifesavers. The colorful scarf will add some warmth to a dull (dehydrated) complexion, and the coffee helps get you going. A comfy, oversize sweater camouflages beer bloat and form fitting jeans balance the look. Now if only I had those boots....

Meeting up with the crush/boyfriend/mancandy/friend with hot brother in tow? You want to look clean and polished even if you feel like bar floor scum. Blow dry hair upside down to get some extra lift. Natural make-up and curled lashes will keep you looking fresher. Brightly colored pants will focus the attention of others away from your pounding head and swollen face and onto your hot legs. Still might need to double fist the coffee though.

Too much work? On the off chance that you feel too dead/tired/hungover to function, use this 3 step plan: 1) As much as you don't want to, take off the sweat pants and get dressed. Putting on real clothes will make you feel better. 2) Heels might be too much. In which case, some nice riding boots are a step up from sneakers or uggs and are still super comfortable. 3) Disguise a bloated belly with an over size sweater that's soft and still has some structure to it. 4) If you can't motivate your self to groom, at the very least throw your dirty hair into a chic bun and put on some eye make-up/mascara to make yourself look less dead in the eyes. On that note, a few eye drops never hurt to counteract the redness. 5) Smile; you'll fool more people than you think.
This is the perfect "I'm responsible/functional no matter how early you expect me to be there after a late night" outfit. Brunch with parents, meeting mancandy's friends/relatives for the first time, appointments or meetings with people in various walks of life (i.e. older or young children), or even the few that attempt the impossible...church. Many a time have we had to mask the hangover/sleep deprivation when we actually had something to do...early. I refuse to let morning obligations infringe on my weekend night fun, so smoke and mirrors work wonders. Clean hair, natural makeup, and a crisp, pressed shirt work wonders. Not to mention, a forgiving fitting pair of dark denim jeans and a few inches never hurts either.
