Hump Day

Wednesday is always that day that you just need to get over with. I'm super stoked for the weekend, and actually have Friday off! ManCandy is dragging my ass to a Wedding in Detroit. I have no idea what to expect, aside from some waspy goodness, and I've never been to Michigan. All I know is open bar + legallyblonde + chicken dance = Parents fucking love me.

Still a little sad about the end of such a kick-ass summer....

But then again...I know I'll be back next year.

Pop culture craziness went down this summer! At least his body is finally laid to rest.

I was beyond upset about the passing of DJ Am. He was DJing at Dusk in Atlantic City (that's New Jersey by the way...) this summer. I caught him once and it was unreal. His death is so sad because he died of an overdose...spurred by him taking anti-anxiety medication....because he was afraid of flying and had to fly all the time to DJ....and was afraid of flying because he was basically burned alive in a near fatal plan crash last year. Awful awful awful.

Last weekend my friends had rented a beach house for the weekend. They thought of everything except for an I-pod dock/boom box/whatever so we were forced to play CD's. Everyone dug through their cars and it was an eclectic mix of Bone Thugz, Wu Tang, 311, and Jayz. Jayz's shit was still hot. HOVA ya herrrd!

Hey pretty lady. I am not excited at all to see this sequel. Ew.

I miss the OC.

It definitely had some good episodes.

Ashlee Simpson is not emo. Stop looking like you're hexed all the time.

Ew. WHHYYYYYY?!?!?!?!?!?

So Long Sweet Summer

Every year I cry a little when summer ends....

Absolutely wonderful end though....couldn't have asked for a better labor day!

Didn't waste anytime when I got down the beach....Anna and I posing before debauchery ensued.

Forcing ManCandy to rip a shot of the awful cheap alcohol we found in the freezer.

Poor, poor starboard bouncer...has to put up far too much.

Booze cruise for Christa's Birthday! The Dirty Dozen.

Beautiful day, beautiful sunset, beautiful spread of food, and beautiful solo cups...hahaha.

So, we went a little overboard with the photo op....no pun intended.

Goodbye Summer 09!!!!

After the Boys of Summer have Gooonnnneeee

Shedding some serious tears realizing the end of summer is upon us. I try to extend mine as far as possible (read: October-ishhh) but it's also the hard and fast rules of summer fashion that make my mascara run. People in my office are going to think I'm insane because I've been rocking seersucker for the past 3 days....but I only have a few moments left! I actually became sad when flipping through my Vineyard Vines catalog this morning....R.I.P. pastels!

However, I plan on rocking skirts and heels well into the dregs of Winter. I love everything about this look.

Some of the seasonal fashion rules are flexible, but I feel fabric dictates alot. Linen, seersucker, and gingham are only appropriate April-August. Silk (I think) is really only Holiday (November-February)...maybe that's just me, but have you ever tried to wear silk when its hot out? No dice.

Rhianna in a year round hot-ass style. (although plunging temps would encourage a nice blazer)

Today I'm wearing a nautical themed dress like above. I feel anything "nautical" is also only appropriate in warm weather. Same applies to certain color combos....red/blue with white stripes, or, I would say cobalt blue and bright red in general are April-August.

Luckily, the advent of the "summer scarf" has made this puppy a year-round staple.

Retiring my white jeans is heart-breaking!!!

"Winter White", or off-white can transcend the seasons...but we all know it looks so much better with a tan.

See?

About 2 summers ago, I became re-acquainted with shorts and now it's a full-on love obsession! I was once one with my denim mini(s), then cut-off denim shorts (jorts=jean + shorts), and last summer I was addicted to high-waisted styles. This summer, I've cooled a little on the extended waist and gotten into different fabrics and cuts...love love love Kristen Bell's outfit above!

Keira can do no wrong. Love this too. I'm ecstatic that 90's-esque floral is making a comeback and I think it can transition season. I would give my first born for that top though....just the right amount of ruffles, pairs perfectly with a pencil skirt, and a sexy sheerness to it. Gah. Iwantit.

I need to figure out how to diy this. Apparently the lovely ladies of http://www.bleachblack.com/ figured out how to properly shred....but I'm afraid my arts and craftiness may still be too fledgling to attempt.

Expect the Expected

Finally spent the first night in my new place alone...and scared shitless. Mind you, I was very glad to get out of my old apartment, since I had some random crackhead squatting in/nearby my building. No one wants to walk out their door and see Rackem' Willie smoking a cig on your stoop...then ask you for money. Anyway, I don't have that kind of hassle at the new diggs but I am a little scared...ok, so has everyone seen the 6th sense? Guess where that was filmed...Old City, Philadelphia. So yes, I have this irrational fear that vomit girl is going to pop out from under my bed. I know, I know....grow the fuck up. Moving on, you may hate me for my next comments, but Rachel Bilson and Chloe Sevingy....meh. They do dress well, but I am never "wowed" by them. I would definitely give my left boob for Bilsons's closet and fiancee`, but does anyone else think she is just above average?

Cute summer dress....but nothing to get naked about.

Again, really cute....

I think Chloe bothers me more, because people make her out to be a trendsetter. How many times have we seen a look like this before?

Casual, matchy-matchy....probably could find it all at Forever21 if you tried though.

I mean, this is a very pretty dress...there's nothing wrong with it...I just don't see the big deal

Whoa....a drapey vest! No one's ever done that! See what I mean. I like these girls' style, but its never enough to warrant replication/praise, in my opinion.

Gray Skies....

Well, it's finally Friday (which is awesome) but unfortunately, its fucking pouring rain where I'm at (Phillyyyyy :) thanks to another hurricane making its way up the coast. This normally would have the potential to be a fun night(particularly down the beach), buuut I'll be cleaning/taking it in general since ManCandy requires my services to make his apartment presentable. I have given up all hope that he will get even a little of his security deposit back, but we have the lofty goal of at least making it look like it was, in fact, humans that lived there. My bros down the beach have already been buzzing about the "gnar swells", meanwhile, I'm getting ready to go all Ryan Jenkins on ManCandy's place...

Still, I have one more weekend of fun in the sun before summer bites it hard.

Instead of whining about the weather/post-work traffic/deserving the girlfriend of the year award, I figure I'll end this poopy day with some niiiice eye candy. Anthony Kedis was so hot back in the day...I'd even take the circa 2000 version (californication album=damn fine)

The Classic. Johnny at anytime/phase/character....mmm like buttah.

He's growning on me.

He is almost 22........

Brownie points. ManCandy actually got mistaken for Asher Roth in Atlantic City a few months back....pretty funny. I wondered if the person who mistook his identity was "special" but, I tried not to go there, smiled, blinked and gave my best "Nooooo way babe! I totally see it!"

Tell me, have you seen Blade 2? or any Men's Health cover that he has graced. I'm sorry, I need to lop up my drool.

Yes, he is hot. I just like this pic because 1) I find it somewhat humorous, 2) he's not getting dry humped down the street by a gaggle of girls

Perfection. Total bro, tall, dark and handsome, killer smile, wearing plaid.

I think I'm going to watch "17 Again" on mute......

Hey hey isn't that random?

Yep. That's for you, ManCandy. Unfortunately, someone has a passionate hatred for one of my favorite bands (lyric above...311). Is it because Nick Hexum is so man-pretty? Or because they're lyrics make little/no sense? Or is it because my love of all music 1995-1999 makes you want to cry on the inside during our morning commute? Hahaha....that's why I'm in the driver's seat.

Yes, this is going to be a random post....I know this going in. Sometimes when I read other people's blogs, I start out really trying to read them...but then end up scrolling through the pics. It's like, "We'll I'm glad I've wasted 5 minutes learning about what you did today." Albeit, sometimes their (i.e. bloggers') lives' are way cooler than mine, so it's definitely interesting. It's like the ultimate form of voyeurism...."I know what you've purchased, what you ate today, and all your likes and dislikes!" Yet, I'm uncontrollably drawn in. You see a bit of yourself in someone leading a completely different life, thousands of miles away; and you both looooovee that song/book/pair of shoes/show/random food item. And....I do the same thing...and hope people read it/find it amusing. I think that comes with the territory...aren't all bloggers a little narcissistic?

I mean, no one should care what the hell I do on a day to day basis, because honestly...it's not that interesting. Buuut, I think the whole "thing" is that blogging is a creative outlet, and if you are quasi-interesting, quasi-funny, a quasi-good writer, and self-depreciating your blog will catch the attention of others....and possibly be enjoyable for them to read/check/follow?

I apologize for being overly pensive/self-reflexive. I guess when you read others' blogs, it gets the ol' hamster wheel turning...haha.

Or maybe I'm just in a fragile state, haha. This has been a stressful week for me, and ManCandy is hanging by a thread as well. Moving/living situations/quarter-life crises (will spellcheck catch that? plural for crisis?) are poopdick no matter how you look at it, no matter how calm and organized you think you are going into it. As whiny-little-girl as it is, little sleep + all your shit in boxes + Chinese/shit food for a week (and/or using up random shit in your pantry....like, when did I purchase canned mango or buffalo flavored rice cakes?) + inability to maintain a normal schedule of life = I want to curl up in fetus position and have someone pat my head while I make a frowny-face.

For me, the best "relief" is to do mindless things...clean, run, iron, etc. until I feel more in control of my life. But, everyone deals with shit differently; ManCandy chain smokes, other people develop insufferable bad attitudes, or my favorite...the angels of death, "MY LIFE IS OVER!" "GOD HATES ME!!!" Com'mon, don't be a pussy. Shit isn't that bad. Grow up.

That's when friends and "hobbies" come in handy the most. It's half the reason I love going down the beach so much. I can unwind (have a cocktail or 2..or...I dunno 20?), sizzle in the sun, and just bullshit with my best friends about the most mindless things. It makes you remember that you're fun and fun to be around, you're not old or lame or a hermit, and life in general is good. We could all use a little more cash, a little less in the trunk, and a little more free time...but if you're in the company of good peoples and have things you enjoy doing...then isn't that all that matters?

And sometimes, when in corporate American/cube nation (for any of you readers in the "real world") you just need a diversion from that thing they call work...how else did textsfromlastnight.com and fml.com get so popular? You just need to be reminded your life doesn't suck.

And having a passion, whether it's music or fashion or whatever, (celebrity gossip?) gives everything perspective. No, the halls of the office aren't a cat walk and the sound of typing/faxing isn't music to one's ears, but listening to your ipod on the walk home or feeling fucking awesome because all the 40 year-olds in your building like your shoes, makes ponying up the $6.95 for the September Vogue or the $249.00 for that itouch or and extra $40 a month so you can get the sundance channel and DVR Paula Dean soo fucking worth it.

And lastly, I cannot express how awesome it feels to know people read my blog...but are awesome enough to comment! Up until very recently, I swore it was only immediate family and friends that read this shit...half the time because I asked. And for my #1 reader/commenter...here's a little bit of Olsen since the blog's been slacking a bit in that department recently....smiling, or course. And oh.......
