Edge of ????

I just watched half of The Edge of Love last night (stolen computer version) and so far (ok I know watching movies half-way through is a total faux-pas but Mancandy came over...) its actually really very good. Apparently, its loosely based on poet Dylan Thomas in WWII times, but my overwhelming draw to it was the main stars...Kiera Knightly and Sienna Miller.

It's open for limited release in the US next Friday, March 20, 2009. I was quite excited when I first heard about the movie because it basically translates to lots of photo-ops of my two favs looking amazingly stylish and badass in the same locale/frame. I noticed (a.k.a while stalking gossip sites) the two actresses had been photographed together more in recent months, but I wasn't aware it was for the movies' promotion. Silly me, I think the fashionable just flock-to and/or befriend each other due the cosmic awesomeness of their irrespective styles (I can dream....). Alas, The Edge of Love was released at Cannes and then most of Europe throughout the summer/fall 2008.

I wish they had worked out....so hot, such complementing styles, and so seemingly cool. Sienna's outfit is amazing. I would give my first born for the dress and boots. I loved them in Alfie too! That will be next on my list of movies to watch. Stupid, Stupid Jude.

This photo alone inspired me to impulsively purchase a leopard scarf and led to an extended hunt of the little boys department (of every store I stepped foot in) for a blazer like that...

Style perfection. Sienna looks so damn happy in so many staged/pap photos. I envy her disposition. It always looks like she's her own best friend. Regardless of how true my theory is to actual reality, she just seems so cool in real life.

I assume they dress themselves. Kudos, ladies. No single stylist could be responsible for this perfection...not even Rachel Zoe (although one could make the argument). TGIF...baby.

Sunny Days Ahead

My apologies for not posting yesterday. Take my word for it, you wouldn't have wanted me to. I had a bad day to eclipse most bad days and was in an awful mood by 11pm last night. I didn't get the job I so desperately wanted/needed, had a shitty day of work followed by a promo that involved hire-ups in the company (nerve-racking!), a date cancelled on me, annnd it was the anniversary of a good friend's death. Normally I could wash my hands of such suck-y-ness, but shutting the door to my office and crying felt so much more appropriate and/or necessary. BUT, today is a new day and an extra cup of coffee coupled with the fact that the weekend is only a day away is making me much more chipper and my sanity is restored.

Note: there is less cohesiveness to this post, and more sheer inspiration/awe.

Who would have ever thought Mick would have such gorgeous spawn? Theodora Richards....(I wonder if people call her Teddy?....Nip/tuck reference anyone?)

If it wasn't for Lily Allen wearing it, I would have never thought 1) that this coat could be remotely cool/attractive when on, and 2) that it would look so badass with green pointy peter pan boots.

Sometimes a bad day just calls for a good movie...one of my faves-Life Aquatic. I watched it the day before I took my LSATS to calm my nerves and take my mind off things. Such a quintessential Wes Anderson flick...looove all of his movies and also recommend the Royal Tennenbaums.

Hayden Panettiere's awesome tat. I want to get another sooo badly. I have one in an undisclosed location and want to possibly get 2 more. I want to get "carpe diem" either on my wrist or on my side/back like above. The wrist seems more appropriate for a motto and guarantees I will see it everyday...I mean, isn't that the point? I also said if I qualified for Boston (the marathon...yes I know I'm insane), I would get wings on my leg/ankle. I missed qualifying by 4 minutes, but the idea to tattoo something (maybe a nice 26.2?) signifying the completion of a marathon is still very appealing... I might just have to do something for my 23rd b-day....

MTV "Reality"

I tuned in (as usual) to my Monday Night guilty pleasure....The City, to get the latest on my favorite vapid ladies. I was surprised to learn there's only one episode left of The City! I wonder if MTV will be picking it up for another season....or, even better, if Whitney will stay in NYC....

My favorite raisin face with girl crush. I had no idea they were even friendly. Rachel Zoe looks better these days ( I think someone fixed her "jowls" because her face was looking a lot worse a few months ago) and of course, Ice-queen looks frostily hot. Side note: I'm getting my hair done in 2 weeks!!! Legally Blond is back with a vengeance baby!!

I want her hair and wardrobe....I love love love this blazer.

Mischa actually looking good for a change. Even though she dropped the weight she was criticized for a few months back...she was looking scary and not very cute during fashion week (NYC fashion week). Here, I think she looks great. I could do without the converses, but to each her own. The SATC feather headband is an awesome touch and like the top/blazer combo.

Found out today only one more season of the Hills before they all call it quits! I'm very sad, but I think for their careers' sake it's probably a good move (not that any of them have real careers aside for LC's fashion line). I guess the ratings dropped last season because viewers realized how fake and scripted it all is/was, but I totally indulge in the fake reality of these chickadees.

My apologies for not posting more outfits recently. My 3 week long illness(es) and snow gave way to some pretty un-inspiring outfits to say the least. I promise I will post soon though. In the meantime, here's a pic from last Friday night's shenanigans out at the local watering hole. Homegirl in the middle had such an awesome necklace she got a local jeweler. The yellow combo was so hot and so spring! Yours truly on the right. You can't really see in this pic, but that top is backless...and a very deep purple. I paired it with gray skinny jeans and fuchsia pumps to match the clutch I'm holding. Oh, and I broke down and started tanning again. I'm shaming myself as I'm typing.

Workin Birkin

I'm sure every blogger mildly concerned with fashion has dedicated a good post or two to the iconic Jane Birkin. Having a highly coveted, expensive, Hermes bag named after her aside, she is everything hipster, boho-chic, 1960's style embodied. So hot, so effortlessly cool, so...French?

She oozes sex icon, but not in the Brigitte Bardot way. Powerful but understated sexy that all women secretly (or not so secretly) strive for.

Her appeal is almost as far reaching as her impact on fashion and style. She also spawned two significant models/fashionistas/(insert other entertainment sector here); Lou Dillon and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

In the above and below pics, Ms. Birkin is photographed with baby daddy #1, Serge (Serje? more french?)Gainsbourg. Note: Birkin has another daughter, Kate Barry, who has stayed out of the limelight.

This photo is why I adore/admire Jane Birkin. Timelessly Hot.

She also epitomises Bangs done right. I don't want to compare her to any modern actresses/models, but a Liv Tyler-Zooey Deschanel-Erin Wasson hybrid/platypus is the best I can come up with.

In addition to starring in movies (one of which involved girl-on-girl action with aforementioned sexpot Brigitte Bardot) she was also a singer/song writer....very good and very sixties folk-y.

Just amazing. When the current state of role models/fashion muses gets me down (cough Lindsey Lohan/Paris Hilton/Jessica Simpson...cough), I like to take a look back at women whom inspired me long ago. My friends can vouch....my apartment is decorated with timeless art (i.e. framed posters) of some of these women....Marilyn Monroe, Ursula Andress (the original Bond girl), Audrey Hepburn, Jane Birkin...and I will continue to support their badass legacy.
