After the Boys of Summer have Gooonnnneeee

Shedding some serious tears realizing the end of summer is upon us. I try to extend mine as far as possible (read: October-ishhh) but it's also the hard and fast rules of summer fashion that make my mascara run. People in my office are going to think I'm insane because I've been rocking seersucker for the past 3 days....but I only have a few moments left! I actually became sad when flipping through my Vineyard Vines catalog this morning....R.I.P. pastels!

However, I plan on rocking skirts and heels well into the dregs of Winter. I love everything about this look.

Some of the seasonal fashion rules are flexible, but I feel fabric dictates alot. Linen, seersucker, and gingham are only appropriate April-August. Silk (I think) is really only Holiday (November-February)...maybe that's just me, but have you ever tried to wear silk when its hot out? No dice.

Rhianna in a year round hot-ass style. (although plunging temps would encourage a nice blazer)

Today I'm wearing a nautical themed dress like above. I feel anything "nautical" is also only appropriate in warm weather. Same applies to certain color combos....red/blue with white stripes, or, I would say cobalt blue and bright red in general are April-August.

Luckily, the advent of the "summer scarf" has made this puppy a year-round staple.

Retiring my white jeans is heart-breaking!!!

"Winter White", or off-white can transcend the seasons...but we all know it looks so much better with a tan.

See?

About 2 summers ago, I became re-acquainted with shorts and now it's a full-on love obsession! I was once one with my denim mini(s), then cut-off denim shorts (jorts=jean + shorts), and last summer I was addicted to high-waisted styles. This summer, I've cooled a little on the extended waist and gotten into different fabrics and cuts...love love love Kristen Bell's outfit above!

Keira can do no wrong. Love this too. I'm ecstatic that 90's-esque floral is making a comeback and I think it can transition season. I would give my first born for that top though....just the right amount of ruffles, pairs perfectly with a pencil skirt, and a sexy sheerness to it. Gah. Iwantit.

I need to figure out how to diy this. Apparently the lovely ladies of http://www.bleachblack.com/ figured out how to properly shred....but I'm afraid my arts and craftiness may still be too fledgling to attempt.

Expect the Expected

Finally spent the first night in my new place alone...and scared shitless. Mind you, I was very glad to get out of my old apartment, since I had some random crackhead squatting in/nearby my building. No one wants to walk out their door and see Rackem' Willie smoking a cig on your stoop...then ask you for money. Anyway, I don't have that kind of hassle at the new diggs but I am a little scared...ok, so has everyone seen the 6th sense? Guess where that was filmed...Old City, Philadelphia. So yes, I have this irrational fear that vomit girl is going to pop out from under my bed. I know, I know....grow the fuck up. Moving on, you may hate me for my next comments, but Rachel Bilson and Chloe Sevingy....meh. They do dress well, but I am never "wowed" by them. I would definitely give my left boob for Bilsons's closet and fiancee`, but does anyone else think she is just above average?

Cute summer dress....but nothing to get naked about.

Again, really cute....

I think Chloe bothers me more, because people make her out to be a trendsetter. How many times have we seen a look like this before?

Casual, matchy-matchy....probably could find it all at Forever21 if you tried though.

I mean, this is a very pretty dress...there's nothing wrong with it...I just don't see the big deal

Whoa....a drapey vest! No one's ever done that! See what I mean. I like these girls' style, but its never enough to warrant replication/praise, in my opinion.
